Privacy policy
Written to be read rather than to be defensible. This site sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics; the sections below cover what we collect when you actually engage us, and what happens to the data we capture over your site.
Who we are
LiDARSurvey.com.au provides drone LiDAR survey and spatial data processing services to clients across Australia. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that business.
If you have a question about this policy or about information we hold, contact us at hello@lidarsurvey.com.au or on 1300 543 227.
What this website collects
This website does not use analytics, advertising pixels, session recording or tracking cookies. We do not build a profile of your visit and we do not sell or share browsing data, because we do not collect it.
The contact and quote forms run entirely in your browser. When you submit one, your answers are assembled into an email that opens in your own mail application — nothing is transmitted to us until you choose to send that email yourself. If you close it without sending, we never receive the information.
Our web host records standard server logs (IP address, request time, page requested, browser user agent) for security and reliability purposes. These are retained for a short period and are not used to identify individuals.
What we collect when you engage us
When you contact us about a project, we collect what you send: your name, employer, contact details, site location and the technical requirements of the capture. We use it to scope the work, prepare a quote, deliver the project and meet our record-keeping obligations.
During a project we may also hold operational information such as site access arrangements, contact details for site personnel, and any client documentation you provide us (briefs, specifications, existing survey data).
Captured data and imagery
LiDAR captures the shape of the ground and the objects on it. Our sensors record range and intensity, not photographic detail, and we do not fly to capture identifiable individuals. Where a capture uses a camera alongside the sensor, incidental imagery of people or vehicles may be recorded.
We treat incidental imagery as operational data. It is not published, not used for marketing without written permission, and is deleted or obscured on request where it is not needed for the deliverable.
Project deliverables and the underlying captured data belong to the client under our standard terms. We retain a working copy so we can support, re-issue or extend the deliverable later — see retention below.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only where it is necessary to do the work: with subcontracted crew or processing specialists engaged on your project, with a registered surveyor where a deliverable requires certification, and with our professional advisers.
We may disclose information where required by law — for example, in response to a lawful request from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority in connection with a flight operation.
Where information is stored
Project data is stored on Australian infrastructure. Some business tools we use — email, accounting, file transfer — may store data overseas under their own terms. We choose providers with an established privacy posture but cannot control their processing beyond the terms of their service.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become projects are kept for up to two years, so we can pick up a conversation that resumes later, and are then deleted.
Project records and captured data are kept for seven years. Survey data has a long useful life — change detection, dispute resolution and re-issue requests routinely reach back years — and record-keeping obligations apply to the commercial side. You can ask us to delete your copy earlier and we will, subject to any legal obligation to retain it.
Security
Access to project data is limited to the people working on the project. Transfers use encrypted channels, storage is access-controlled, and devices used in the field are encrypted. No system is perfect; if a breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected clients and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@lidarsurvey.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for a reasonable request.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy matter, you can escalate it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when what we do changes — not on a schedule. The date at the top reflects the last substantive change. Material changes affecting existing clients will be communicated directly.
Questions about any of this? Email hello@lidarsurvey.com.au or get in touch. Our commercial terms are set out separately in the terms of service.
